Why a Research Scientist put his name on Your Daily®

From Dr Hussein Naji, Head of Science

REPOSTED FROM DR. HUSSEIN NAJI’S SUBSTACK
For the first time, Hussein is officially partnering with a health product. Here’s what convinced him.

I’ve been waiting to share this properly.

Since November, I’ve been working quietly with Your Daily® as Head of Science—and now I can finally talk about it.

This is the first official partnership I’ve taken on like this.

I get a lot of collaboration requests. I say no to almost all of them.

I’m careful about attaching my name to health products because most of them sound good, but very few are scientifically honest, and even fewer actually work when someone is overwhelmed, bloated, anxious, exhausted, or already tired of trying 17 things that didn’t help.

Your Daily was different.

What is Your Daily®

Your Daily® is a gut & stress relief app with daily plans built around gut health and nervous system regulation.

Short body-based tools, plain-English lessons, and daily plans that adapt to what someone actually needs that day.

No food rules. No tracking everything. No “try harder.”

Just small, practical tools designed for real life.

Where Your Daily® came from

I want to tell you a bit about the founder Shawna, because her story matters.

She spent years being dismissed by doctors while her body was clearly falling apart—symptoms that were real, debilitating, and repeatedly explained away or told were in her head

She was eventually diagnosed with 3 autoimmune conditions after fighting to be taken seriously.

That experience changed everything for her.

She spent years figuring out what actually helped, got certified in integrative nutrition and trauma therapies, and started working with other women who were going through the same thing.

She helped dozens of people before eventually building those methods into an app.

I don’t say this lightly: Shawna is one of the most genuinely motivated people I’ve worked with.

This isn’t a business project for her. It’s personal. And that comes through in every part of how the app is built.

Why I said yes

When Shawna first came to me, the core idea was simple:

Gut symptoms and anxiety aren’t separate problems. They often run through the same system.

Your gut, brain, immune system, stress response, and nervous system are in constant conversation.

When your body is stuck in a stress state, digestion can change.
Motility can change.
Sensitivity can change.
Bloating, urgency, appetite, pain, and food reactions all feel louder.

That doesn’t mean every gut symptom is “just stress.

I hate that framing.

Symptoms are real. Biology is real. Medical care matters.

But it does mean that if someone keeps chasing food rules, supplements, and protocols while their nervous system is still braced, the pattern just keeps repeating.

That’s the problem Your Daily is built around.

My role

My job has been to make sure the science is clear, honest, and actually useful.

Reviewing the research logic. Shaping the education. Improving how the app explains gut health, anxiety, stress, and nervous system regulation.

And making sure the guidance doesn’t become another pile of shiny wellness advice that sounds impressive and fails by day 3.

That last part is the one I care about most.

Because my own life changed when I stopped collecting health information and started translating it into steps I could actually use. That’s what I want this app to do for other people.

Who Your Daily® is for

Your Daily is for people whose labs may look normal but they still don’t feel normal.

People whose stress goes straight to their gut.

People dealing with bloating, IBS-type symptoms, anxiety, burnout, food reactions, or the feeling that their body is constantly overreacting.

People who’ve tried elimination diets, supplements, protocols, and “just relax” advice—and still feel stuck.

It’s not a replacement for medical care.

It’s support for the messy middle of real life: the meals, flare-ups, spirals, stress days, and moments where you need your body to feel a little safer before your brain can think clearly again.

This is the most aligned I’ve ever felt with a project—ethically, scientifically, and personally. And I’m really excited for you to see it.

Your kiwi-with-the-skin-on-eating friend,
Hussein
