If you found your way here because you’re feeling spent or burnt out, you’re not alone. Perhaps you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS or Lupus or even struggling with chronic fatigue. If this sounds like you, I’d like to suggest trying a health coach.

In the middle of a stress epidemic, our food rife with chemicals, and a world full of toxic relationships, it’s no wonder our health is in decline. Confusing publicity and mixed messages have left many people unsure of how to build back their lives when they are suffering from burnout. In this dangerous outbreak we’re seeing a rise in people looking for a “health coach”. But what exactly is a health coach? Someone who stands behind you barking orders at you when you reach for the cake? Not exactly…

What Exactly Is a Health Coach?

A health coach is someone who works with you to help you change your habits, your health, and your life. They start by talking to you to help identify things that might be holding you back from achieving your goals and see what small changes can be achieved in your current lifestyle.

If for example, you’re a single mom with 3 young kids and a full-time job, asking you to do an hour and a half in the gym everyday would be ridiculous. A health coach helps you to navigate the struggles of your life to achieve your personal goals, get your healing journey on track, and finally start to recover.

For example, the Your Daily™ Health Coaching app focuses primarily on 15 key aspects of your life that range from sleep hygiene, to personal boundaries, to time spent in nature, to community. She looks at your Primary Foods, which are all the things that feed your soul. Your spirituality, relationships, purpose, creativity, finances, and what brings you joy, all belong in this category. She also looks at Secondary Foods, which are the nourishing foods that you actually eat. It’s about balance between the two; the harmony of what we eat emotionally and physically.

When there is a problem in Secondary Foods —which is where most people start their journey because they feel like they want to lose weight or change their appearance, or their eating feels disordered — it’s because something is off in Primary Foods.

By taking a holistic approach to wellness and addressing both Primary and Secondary foods, we can make sustainable and fulfilling changes that last a lifetime.

When you are nourished and happy in the ways that truly matter, food becomes secondary.

Some common areas health coaches help improve include:

  • Time management
  • Personal boundaries
  • Diet changes
  • Movement
  • Mindset
  • Stress management
  • Sleep patterns

Who is a health coach for?

A health coach is for anyone who wants to improve their health and wellness. If you are feeling fatigued, burnt out, or are suffering from an autoimmune disease, they can work wonders in helping you reverse your symptoms and get back to living a life of health and vitality. But really, you don’t have to be suffering from an illness to reap the benefits of improved energy levels, a better diet and a fuller life.

The idea in a health coach is to help people feel empowered, to listen, and to motivate. They seek to help people identify their strengths and core values and then use those strengths to maximize results, which in turn, provides the motivation to continue.

Another main aim of a health coach is to create goals and find ACHIEVABLE ways to reach your objective. This is what Your Daily™ is for.

We use the KISS method: keep it stupid simple.

By chunking down a goal into bite-size pieces (called Habit Stacking by James Clear of Atomic Habits), we’re able to make formative changes in our world.

A-Types tend to be all or nothing and do too much all at once, and when the needle doesn’t move quickly, they give up everything at once and go back to their old ways saying “I’ve tried everything!”

Health Coaches, and Your Daily™, focus on going slow to go fast. There are no 28-day abs, or 3-week detoxes anywhere in our programs because those don’t work. Not long-term anyway. It’s about making long-lasting, sustainable changes to our mindset and health.

If you are suffering from any health issues, a health coach can help you to:

  • Improve gut health
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Improve fitness
  • Reduce and reverse hair loss
  • Turn off autoimmune disease symptoms
  • Clear brain fog
  • Cure skin conditions
  • Remedy digestion troubles (IBS, bloating, constipation, etc.)
  • Lower cortisol
